Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

Intrauterine insemination involves the gentle placement of washed sperm into the woman’s uterus at or around the time of ovulation. In order to perform the IUI, sperm are isolated from the male ejaculate and then washed. They are then placed into the woman’s uterus using a thin flexile plastic cannula. This procedure is almost always used in conjunction with an ovulation induction medication in the office by one of our physicians.
