Texas Fertility Center is Currently Recruiting for the Following
Infertiity Research Studies
11/15/11 Embryo Biomarker Study
For countless women, becoming pregnant is an important milestone in their lives. Many couples, however, experience difficulty conceiving due to infertility issues.
In fact, it is estimated that 15% of women will confront the challenges of infertility in their lifetime. Since the first successful delivery of a baby from in vitro fertilization (IVF) in 1981, IVF has emerged as a leading infertility treatment around the world. Over 130,000 cycles of IVF are performed annually in the US alone. Although success rates have risen dramatically over the past 3 decades, the US national average chance of a woman delivering a child in one IVF cycle remains less than 50%. The Texas Fertility Center – an internationally recognized leader in fertility research - is currently participating in an international multi-center research study that may help to push the success of IVF even higher.
Purpose:
The purpose of the study is to identify and analyze the presence of certain substances (called biomarkers) produced by developing eggs and embryos. It is well known that as eggs and embryos grow, they produce different types of proteins. The amount and types of these proteins differ between normally developing and abnormally developing eggs and embryos. If this study can better characterize these differences, fertility specialists and embryologists may be better able to evaluate an eggs quality or potential for pregnancy in the near future.
Qualifcations for Study Enrolment:
Patients desiring to participate in this research study must be between the ages of 18-37 and in good general health. They have to complete a standard infertility evaluation, meet other specific medical criteria, and need IVF in order to conceive. Patients who are planning to pursue an IVF cycle and who are interested in participating should contact Tamara at (512) 451-0149 x 132. Eligible patients who decide to participate in the study will be paid $200.00.”
